Primo Maxx® II

Primo Maxx II is a professional plant growth regulator that transforms turf management. The Primo Maxx II programme helps create a denser, stronger and more beautiful turf that better withstands the stresses of play and weather.

Primo Maxx II affects the plant’s hormonal activity by temporarily inhibiting the production of gibberellic acid in the leaf. This slows vertical growth and redirects the plant’s energy into the roots and lateral shoots. The result is denser, healthier and more durable turf that requires up to 35 % less mowing.

Benefits:

Better playing surface. Greens become smoother and more consistent, and ball roll stays true throughout the day. On fairways, the ball sits up better thanks to denser turf coverage.

Stronger turf. The turf becomes more tolerant to drought, wear and shade. Under drought conditions, Primo Maxx II increased the photochemical efficiency of the turf by over 75 % and kept the leaf water content 20 % higher compared to untreated turf.

Significant cost savings. Less mowing means lower fuel, maintenance and labour costs, as well as freed-up time for other course maintenance.

More sustainable course management. A smaller carbon footprint and reduced fuel consumption support responsible turf care.

Product information – Finland

This information concerns the use of Primo Maxx II in Finland.

For growth regulation of turf on golf course greens, tees, fairways, green surrounds, roughs and on sports field turf.

Active ingredient: Trinexapac-ethyl 116.4 g/l

Recommended application rates:

Roughs and sports field turf: 2.4-3.2 l/ha. Up to 5 applications per growing season.

Tees and fairways: 0.8-1.6 l/ha. Up to 10 applications per growing season.

Greens: 0.2-0.4 l/ha. Up to 40 applications per growing season.

Water volume for spraying: 300-1000 l/ha.

Points to consider when using

Primo Maxx II is applied to actively growing turf. If the turf is entering dormancy due to high or low temperatures, lower application rates should be used. Turf suffering from drought must not be sprayed, as the sward may be damaged. The total amount of product applied during the growing season must not exceed 16 l/ha. Permitted application period: 1 April to 15 October. Primo Maxx II treatment may temporarily cause yellowing of the turf. This usually corrects itself approximately one week after spraying. Applying readily available nitrogen reduces the risk of yellowing. Take into account the growth rate of different grass species and cultivars when determining application rates.

Pack size: 5 and 10 L

Primo Maxx II is applied to actively growing turf. If the turf is entering dormancy due to high or low temperatures or drought, lower application rates should be used. Turf stressed by frost or low soil moisture must not be sprayed, as the sward may be damaged. The turf must be dry and free of weeds before application. The soil must be sufficiently moist for the turf to grow well. Do not treat during periods of frost or if rain is expected within 1-2 hours. The product is rainfast 1-2 hours after application. Primo Maxx II must not be used on newly established turf. The product may be used when the turf covers at least 90 % of the surface area.
